Yes, atater, the PetroCan station is open at Sarnia & Western. My posting of a price is evidence of that fact! Don't know anything about a closure as I was away for several weeks at a cottage.

Hey Thor, I saw that you posted a price for the PetroCan at Sarnia & Western Road yesterday. Has the construction/replacement been completed? If so, you might want to post that info, on the station info and on the London messages "Stations closed (temporarily) " as an aid to other viewers. I have been away for a while and haven't gone by the station, but I very often fill up there on an almost empty tank. Would hate to run the risk (again & again) of no gas and no gas station . ;8>p))

Thanks for the Congrats, Shep20715. There is a reason I don't MAIL my responses to others who come to MY whiteboard and post. Many of the posts to my whiteboard are unsolicited comments, and I have NO prior relationship with those posters, I do not want to encourage those folks to draw me into a relationship I do not want. Note that almost ALL those unsolicited posts come with a Buddy request? I am very selective with whom I pick to set up Friend relationships. I get to know their interests and their feelings about a variety of issues, If I feel they are compatible with me, THEN I might invite them to 'Buddy' up. When those I DO NOT know ask me to be their Buddy, they are intruding. If they want to see my response, they know where they posted and they can come back to see what/if I've replied!

Congratulations on posting for 1700 consecutive days, that is real dedication, You write nice responses, but you don't MAIL them. You write on your WHITE BOARD instead of the recipients WHITE BOARD. I am just seeing you May27, response to me, only because I came to YOUR WB to congratulate you. You've been on GB almost nine years? .YB.Shep

by Thor51  May 27, 2014

Thanks Shep, it's more my inate tenacity than an altruistic desire to help the world, though. Sorry, but I don't friend many folks (see comments from the Mar 19 post below). And Canadians don't have a Memprial Day w/e, but I did enjoy the Victoria Day holiday the w/e before last ...

Hi cheapertvs ... I am NOT a finacial adviser, but I can tell you about retirement as I retired at an age several years less than yours. My retirement was triggered by a heart attack. When you face your mortality, the retirement decision is much different than the one you face. Most of my friends are also retired, but some of them chose retirement because their spouses were retired, and ultimtely those folks went back to work ... in some capacity. Bottom line is to stay retired, you have to be ready and have something to do with your time after you leave your job. None of my friends who went back to work went back full time ... some went back with reduced hours, others went back as contract employees with their former companies ... with reduced responsibility. If I was in your shoes, I'd definately take the money and run. I did just that when I got offered a package as part of a downsizing, invested the windfall, and moved on to another totally different career that was more fulfilli

I am trying to get to retirement. I was just offered a voluntary separation package and I am age 64. The problem is that I am not in the retirement mindset yet. How do you make the transition?
